Michigan Christians for Life

Attention Church Leadership!

On Independence day we celebrate the freedom we have as Americans. Fireworks, parades and picnics on July 4, 2006 will affirm our appreciation of the freedom we have as citizens of "the land of the free and the home of the brave". After the celebrations we wait for another July 4th to give thanks.

In a like manner, Christians are free from sin through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We celebrate this event on the first day of each week in local Churches but unlike the end of the celebration of the 4th of July, we are called to live out this celebration in our personal lives. Based on our nations recent history we are losing some ground.

In the past 33 years in America, freedom has been defined by many as being able to do whatever you want to do. The buzz word for it is "choice". The down side of this logic is that many do not distinguish between right and wrong choices, all are perceived as being subjective, "if it feels good, do it". In truth, real freedom is being able to do the right thing.

This type of "logic" has brought America abortion, assisted suicide, euthanasia and infanticide. Unless we get a handle on this, things will get worse in the new millennium.

Is there an answer to this dilemma ? Yes. "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (Chronicles 7:14)

That message was given directly to Solomon by God and underlines the importance He places on a nation repenting of their sinful ways. What message do we give God when 4300 babies in a "Christian" Nation are killed daily by abortion?

How do we humble ourselves? I believe by speaking out on this unpopular topic ; abortion kills. Abortion is the reason for the cheapening of life in America. Many Christians really don't know the seriousness of abortion because in many cases they only hear about it on the Sunday closest to January 22nd., the anniversary of Roe V Wade.

I want to challenge every Christian who labors for the Gospel of Jesus Christ to consider doing something special for God's gift of life in 2006 by preaching or teaching about the sin of abortion. Remember not to Judge that person. We are all sinners saved by God's Grace. That may be unpopular or difficult to do but it is doing the right thing and that is what freedom is all about. If you need assistance contact Michigan Christians for Life.

Abortion is very real. Look at the map of the United States below this message. The shaded states reflect the 33,640,000 legal abortions performed in the U.S. between 1973 and 1995. That figure has soared to over 46,000,000 today. When you stop and consider that God's gift to us is life and what we do with it is our gift to Him, you will understand why abortion is wrong.  The Bible clearly says that it is God's desire that everyone should choose His gift of Life. (Deuteronomy 30:19)

Before I close this letter, meant for the Clergy in Christian Churches, let me ask you, again, to help our efforts. Over the years it has been my experience in working with different groups of Clergy that the majority of them rate Abortion last on the scale of importance. That is very sad because God rates it number one.

Many never ask about the work of Michigan Christians for Life or offer to help. How sad that is because all of our our resources are free, we have nothing to sell. All our efforts are exclusively directed to educating the Christian Church about Life issues, regardless of what denomination they are.

In closing do remember that life is why Jesus came. Please don't ignore so great a challenge to alert others to the culture of death we have all experienced since 1973.

We, as Christians, should remember that someday we will have to give an account for what we did to help end abortion. Prayer is important so don't discount that way of helping us and others fight the good fight for Life. Pro life work is all about saving those precious lives that God wants to send here for the common good and our efforts to help them will always be blessed. God love you.
